Your Ride, Your Way: Self-Guided Cycling Adventures

Looking for a flexible cycling adventure with all the logistics sorted? Our self-guided cycle tours let you choose your own dates, get your group together and just turn up and ride. We take care of the details so you can focus entirely on the adventure.

Enjoy the freedom of the trail without the hassle of planning. You get to ride independently, knowing everything is waiting for you at the end of each day.

What We Do For You

We handle the logistics so you can immerse yourself in the ride. Every Track & Trail itinerary includes:

  • Accommodation: Comfortable, hand-picked lodging booked ahead for you.
  • Seamless Logistics: Bike shuttle transport where required for the trail.
  • Flexible Bike Hire: Modern e-bike booking and setup if required.
  • Effortless Navigation: A daily “how-to” itinerary and a curated Ride with GPS route collection ready for your phone or bike computer.
  • Local Support: On-the-ground peace of mind with in-country WhatsApp support.
  • Meals
    • Remote Lodge Stays: When staying at remote wilderness lodges, all 3 meals are provided for you on-site.
    • Town & Settlement Stays: For standard nights, your itinerary is designed around excellent local cafes for breakfast/lunch and restaurants for dinner (purchased independently).

What You Need to Know

To ensure a safe and smooth journey, self-guided riders are responsible for their own transport, on-trail safety, and basic bike repairs.

  • Transport & Luggage: You will need to hire or provide a vehicle to travel between trail locations. You will transport your own luggage in your vehicle between overnight stops (no need to transport bicycles).
  • Trail Navigation: While the trails are very well signposted, you are responsible for actively following the signs and staying on track using the provided digital navigation tools.
  • Safety & Communication: Some of our trails are remote, and mobile phone coverage can be unreliable. You must carry a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) in the Timber Trail for emergency situations.
  • Weather Awareness: New Zealand weather can change rapidly. You are required to monitor the weather closely via the MetService app or website before heading out each day.
  • Basic Maintenance: You need to be self-sufficient on the trail, which includes handling your own basic repairs, such as fixing a puncture.
