Transport To and From the Kōpiko Aotearoa Brevet 20024 start with secure parking

Drive or fly to our Rotorua base. Leave your car or bike box at our secure base under security cameras. Pop your bike on our purpose-built bike trailer and jump in the Ford Transit van. Head out to East Cape for the start. Ride for 8 awesome days, then be at the Cape Egmont Lighthouse for pick up and return to Rotorua and your car.

Price: NZD $460 inc GST per person. Yes, that price is for getting to the start and getting back to Rotorua.

NEW Dates: Leaving Friday 19 Jan 2024 at 10:30am, picking up Sunday 28 Jan 2024 at 3:30pm. Will go the following days too if there are numbers for that.

Sat 20 Jan is the first day of the brevet and the first day of riding, Sunday morning 28 Jan is the last day of riding i.e.. 8 days to ride the course.

East to West Direction

Leaving your car in Rotorua gives you the option to leave food, clean clothes, parts or spares halfway through the Kōpiko course.

Drive time: there 4:40 hours | back 4:55 hours
Drop off: East Cape Campground, 6 kms to East Cape Lighthouse
Pick Up: Cape Egmont Lighthouse
Departs from and returns to: Hamurana Springs, northern side of Lake Rotorua

Preparation: I am doing two supported, weekend gravel preparation rides in September and December 2023 call “Eight Lake. Two Days“, giving you the opportunity to test your bike and your legs.

Value for money? If you drove yourself form Auckland to the East Cape at 533kms on the IRD’s mileage rate of .95, that’s $506 ONE way without secure parking…. and how do you retrieve your car?
OR if you boxed your bike, flying to Gisborne, then shuttled to the East Cape that starts at $300 ONE way and you’d need to hire and discard bike boxes.
